What God Hates

Proverbs 8:13a (KJV) – The Fear of the Lord is to hate Evil

Proverbs 6:16-19 (KJV)– These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,  18An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,  19A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

I would like to say that what will be covered here is a difficult subject for many, and sometimes sounds harsh, but let me remind you that God’s Word is sharper than any two-edged sword and it will cut. It is much better for us to be cut by the truth now, when it matters, rather than on the judgment day which will be too late. I will cover a few passages but not all, this is a big subject and a whole book could be written on it; this explanation here is just so that we can see the main points.

In the generation that we live in today, there is this phrase that we always hear and have gotten too used to hearing, “God is Love.” This in fact is true, that God is love (1 John 4:8), and that He does love the world and this is why He gave His only begotten Son for it, so that we should not perish and have everlasting life (John 3:16), but God also hates and this is what we are not used to hearing or we simply don’t want to understand, but the word of God is clear on this as well. We can’t only take the parts we like, we must accept and understand it all or we are living a lie – if we only want to accept one side of the bargain and live that side then we become like the world, only accepting what we want and what pleases us.

You can’t have love without hate, they are two sides of the same coin; if you love something you must also hate the opposite of it. I know you must read this and say, “no, I love all things and everyone.” At least in this generation we hear this a lot from people of the world and some professing Christians as well, but if this is the case you already are going against God Himself for God does hate. In Proverbs 13, it says that the fear of the Lord is also hatred of evil. If we are going against Him, doesn’t this mean we are His enemy? And we know that in the end God’s enemy does not gain eternal life with Him. We must realize there are opposites. If you are prideful the opposite is humbleness and humility, if you’re dishonest, because you lie, the opposite is being trusting, for you are honest. Evil versus good.

Once we are able to accept this part, we become that much closer to understanding God, because once we can understand that God also hates, a clearer path has opened of understanding the situation and what can happen to us. In fact, a clearer understanding happens of the Word of God as well, and the world that we are in. For a righteous and just God, this means that living in what God hates there will be consequences. When we think about this carefully, our generation has become lost and confused by the devil’s tactics.

I have met and heard many homosexuals that say, “God is love and I believe in Jesus, I am saved and can live my life how I want because God wants me to be happy and find love as well.” But 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 speaks about their way of life and love directly, stating they will never inherit the kingdom of God. In fact, it doesn’t just say homosexuals but it includes fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, and abusers of themselves, but the one we usually miss at the beginning of the verse is “the unrighteous” will not inherit the kingdom, and the few kinds of people written about after that are just a small proportion of the ‘unrighteous’. This verse is not saying that if you were ever one of these that you cannot inherit the kingdom, it is saying that someone that lives in them will not inherit the kingdom of God. You can say you love God, and you believe in His Son Jesus Christ. But if you live an unrighteous life in front of God you will not inherit the kingdom of God, for God has His standards which do not compare to our standards or what the world puts out as being good, with the few given above being just a few examples of this.

Do not allow the Devil and his servants to deceive you.

John 3:16 (KJV) – For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

This specific verse was brough up earlier to let us know and realize that God loves the world and why does he love them? Because we are His creation. He loved us so much that His only begotten son died for you and me. What I would like to point out on this specific passage is that we do not realize it says that whoever believes in Him “should not perish” but have everlasting life. He was clear to say, “should not perish.”

If all we had to do was believe and be saved, the passage would say, “whoever believes in Him will be saved to everlasting life”. But it DOES NOT SAY THAT it says SHOULD NOT PERISH. This is because you can still believe in Him but in the end perish. The devil and his angels believe, the demons believe yet they will perish. We can perish because we decide to live an unrighteous life in front of God. We must believe and true belief will bring forth actions that are true and righteous in front of God. We must put our flesh on the cross and follow Him. We must understand what God wants and do this and realize that the devil will try by any means necessary to deceive us to believe what is bad to be good and make us think that we are still following God. We must be observant and always check with the Word of God to continue living in the light and be on the path He has laid for us.

Hosea 9:15 (KJV) – All their wickedness is in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of mine house, I will love them no more: all their princes are revolters.

Deuteronomy 12:31 (KJV) – Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God: for every abomination to the Lord, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.

The passages above are clear: Hosea 9 speaks about the wickedness that was in Gilgal and the Lord hated it. Is says that because of this wickedness they will be driven out of God’s house. And that He will love them no more. This is something harsh and very difficult to take in; they will be removed from the house of God and be loved no more.  All of this was because they did not want to hear and obey the words of God. In Deuteronomy 12, it says that another abomination which God hates is that they sacrificed their kids to fire for their gods. It is true that you do not hear about this anymore, but it still happens. Now, in our generation, another act we hear about is the act of abortion, the sacrificing of babies which are their sons and daughters, which has come from people making idols of themselves, saying “my body, my choice.” What they have forgotten is that the other body isn’t theirs and their wasn’t their choice to murder it, this act comes from one’s lust and desires.

How ever you look at it, a sacrifice is a sacrifice, no matter how you try to put it. These abortions could come from the spirit of fear and if you did it because of that you gave in and the baby’s sacrifice was now offered to that spirit/idol. What we don’t realize is that an abortion isn’t a spur of the moment decision, it is put into our minds by either a lying spirit, or a spirit of fear, or a spirit of anxiety, or a spirit of lust for yourself – among many others – but once you commit the act, that act was a sacrifice to that spirit or idol and if this spirit or idol gets more control of your life, it has also become your god and you obey it rather than God, which also is an abomination towards God.

Psalms 5:4-6 – For thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness: neither shall evil dwell with thee. The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity. Thou shalt destroy them that speak leasing: the Lord will abhor the bloody and deceitful man.

Psalms 11:5 – The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

2 Peter 3:9 – The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

John 8:44 – Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

These passages above are just a handful of verses in the Word of God that speak towards what God hates. I would like to say I know the above seem difficult and even harsh to take in or maybe you will say, “I don’t see it that way.” What I want you to realize is that no matter how hard it is to take in, isn’t it easier to listen to God’s Words than to stand on that day of Judgement and realize you knew but decided not to obey His Words? If God hates something, as His children, we should say that we will follow Him and obey Him for He is our God. This means that we must put aside what we see or what we think and say, “God we will follow You for we have made You our Lord and master.”

This passage below speaks about only a few things that our Lord hates and that are an abomination to Him:

Proverbs 6:16-19 – These six things doth the Lord hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

  • Proud look
  • Lying tongue
  • Hands that shed innocent blood
  • Heart devises wicked imagination
  • Feet that be swift in running to mischief
  • False witness that speaks lies
  • He that sows discord among brothers

These are seven, but when we look at the list that will not inherit the kingdom of God:

  • Unrighteousness
    • In the Bible, this is a violation of the law, what is not right and just, acts of wickedness, usually a habitual sequence of wickedness, transgression iniquity, etc.
  • Fornicators
  • Idolaters
  • Adulterers
  • Effeminates
  • Homosexuals
  • Abusers of themselves
  • Thieves
  • Covetous
  • Drunkards
  • Revilers
  • Extortioners

We see that God dislikes and hates a lot more that what we hear about; many times, we need to realize that all of those that practice these and many more will not inherit the kingdom of God. We must change and become different and better. We must realize that God is asking more from us, He is asking us to be His warriors, He is asking us to be true light bearers and salt to this world so that we stand out and that He will be visible through us. For His Spirit, the Holy Spirit, does live in us and we will be transformed and made new only through Him.
